Air has sound. Initially, we think of it as silent, invisible substance. But dig deeper and think of the wind — the sound changes as it encounters obstacles, impediments. Having lived on the I-95 corridor, learning to drive inside the Corridor of Hell otherwise known as the Capital Beltway… when I first moved to Buffalo, all of the road names sounded really bizarre to me. And it wasn’t because they were long and had too many consonants (you try pronouncing Scajaquada your first day in town!) It was because they all came with THE in front of them. Ray of Light Update: Almost Time for Installation!
This will be the last update on construction from the studio. We’re working basically around the clock to finish on time and stopped only long enough to eat and get this baby posted, then we’re right back to it! We’ve tackled a lot of the prep work for installation: pre-fitting pieces over the seams and basically making giant packing tape band-aides to use on site. “Heli-lens” for Jr. League Decorators Show House 2015
When I wake up in the morning, I think of myself as a scientist and a craftsman before seeing myself as an artist. For the 2015 Junior League Showhouse, I wanted to utilize my years of study of the chemistry of glass to push the limits of stained glass design through that lens. Many of the pieces in the background had glass powder applied and fused onto the surface, creating permanent imagery which will never lose its vibrancy.
